Ozzie Muren

Advisory Board Member

Ozzie Muren is a fellow “mom-cologist” and advocate for pediatric cancer awareness and research. In July 2008, her daughter Erin was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. After enduring several rounds of high-dose chemotherapy, numerous surgeries, tandem stem cell transplants, external beam and intraoperative radiation, blood and platelet transfusions, and months of inpatient hospital stays, Erin has been with "No Evidence of Disease" since 2010. While Erin's grueling cancer treatment saved her life, it also nearly claimed it when she developed liver failure after her second transplant. The toxic side effects of her treatment marked one of the most harrowing chapters in Erin’s cancer journey. Despite challenges, Erin’s resilience has been nothing short of miraculous. Today, Erin is a healthy, happy young woman who is pursuing a career in veterinary oncology, driven by her own experience of overcoming cancer. Grateful for the dedicated care provided by the doctors, nurses, and staff at Stony Brook University Hospital who supported Erin, Ozzie is honored to join the Daniela Conte Foundation’s Advisory Board. With this role, Ozzie is committed to helping families cope with the challenges of pediatric cancer and to advocating for greater awareness. Erin’s journey serves as a beacon of hope to families fighting similar battles, and Ozzie is proud to contribute to this vital work through the Foundation.
